Baby Preston Andrew is here!

Let me clarify, I've been playing with a new hobby...reborning! Reborning is basically taking a doll, or a doll kit striping it down to the vinyl and then repainting it, putting it together, and weighting it so that it looks as much like a real baby as possible. It is a very fun but demanding and expensive hobby. So far, I am really enjoying it. As much as I love my sewing it is my job, so it's nice to do something different now and then. The first one I did was from a Berenguer LaBaby playdoll, and she turned out okay. I plan to use her as a demo doll at shows for my carriers.

Preston Andrew is my second and he is from the Bountiful Baby kit Sam. He still needs hair, with will be carefully be micro-rooted with oh so soft premium mohair; his eyelahes will also be hand rooted with matching mohair. After that, I will take more pictures of him and post them! But for now what do you all think?

The palette (I mix all of my own paints) of Genesis heat set paints. GHSP do not fade crack or peel over time and are non-toxic.

The Sam kit, after 2 (I think) layers of flesh.

Shh, baby's sleeping...

Delicate shading and barely there eyebrows, just like a new baby!

I have a new project up my sleeve and I need your used crayons! Broken, small, wrapper or not, brand name or brand x, doesn't matter! If you have old crayons you want to get rid of, let me know! I can't pay top dollar, but may be able to reimburse for shipping! Comment here, or email me at cheylocreations{at}yahoo{dot}com if you have crayons for me, or know where I can find them!

Happy Halloween

Cheyenne had so much fun carving pumpkins, trick or treating in her adorable WorldofWhimm scarecrow costume, and eating way too much candy for a 14 month old! According to her, lollipops are called "pop pops". A few pictures to commemorate the fun day...

Product Naming Contest!

Alright helpful internet folks...I need your help! I am very excited about a new product I will be launching at Urban Craft in December (it will appear online on lollishops and etsy after that), but I need your help naming it!

The product is a fabric pouch filled with flaxseed (and probably a fragrance oil) that can be microwaved or frozen and used for sore muscles, bumps and bruises, cramps, headaches and more! There will be four sizes to accomodate babies through adults, and small bumps to backaches. The bags themselves are made from 100% cotton remnants from my other products...

So, the contest is this, comment on this post (or my thread on etsy). If I choose your name, I will send you a FREE flax pack after the product debut in December! You will be contacted for your address! This contest will remain open til I find the perfect name! So get creative, and the soooner the better; I need to start on packaging!

Twitter here I come!

Well, I have heard about it...I have wondered about it...I have read about it...and now, I am part of it! It being twitter, of course. Sure sure, I am a bit late, but I got there eventually, and that is really what counts, right? It really is pretty easy to sign up and set up, so that is very nice, and it may prove to be a useful marketing tool, time will tell. For those of you on twitter, I am www.twitter.com/cheylocreations. If you'd like to follow me there!

Overall, tonight has been a techno update night! I am visiting my folks, who have pets, so I didn't bring any of my products to work on, which means I have time (finally) to get all my online stuff updated instead! So tonight I started by updating my personal website with new info and new pictures (click on the logo to the left to check it out). Then I complied my list of newsletter subscribers and worked on my template. I just switched from constant contact to mailchimp and it is taking some getting used to, but there will be a newsletter sent out by the end of the week, so make sure you sign up! I also wrote up the main article for the newsletter. Then I joined twitter and got that all set up and now here I am, blogging...For someone who is kind of techno-challenged, I am quite proud of myself!

What have you been up to tonight?
